Founder & Operator

I run a real service company. Now I help yours.

I'm Travis. I built ServiceBuilt because I got tired of watching tradesmen overpay for websites that don't work. Every system we sell, I built and tested on my own home service company first. If it didn't move the needle for me, you don't get sold it.

01 — The Story

How I got here.

I didn't set out to build a marketing agency. I set out to build a garage door company. The marketing agency happened because I couldn't find anyone who actually understood my business.

Years ago, I was running Direct Service Garage Doors out of one location, paying an SEO agency a thousand dollars a month, and watching nothing happen. The phone rang because of word of mouth, not because of Google. The site looked fine, but it didn't book jobs. The agency sent monthly “reports” full of metrics I couldn't connect to a single customer who actually called.

So I fired them and decided to learn it myself. I read everything. I rebuilt our site from scratch, migrated off Wix to WordPress, built dedicated city pages for every market I served, and implemented schema on every page. I learned what GBP optimization actually looks like. I figured out how to build the kind of site that shows up in the Map Pack and actually converts the visit into a booked job — not just a pretty homepage.

It worked. Direct Service grew. Reviews started stacking up. We got featured on HGTV. We expanded into 12 cities. The system worked because I was the operator, the marketer, and the technician all rolled into one — and I could see exactly what was moving the needle and what wasn't.

Then other contractors started asking how. Plumbers. Electricians. Roofers. Guys who'd been burned by agencies before. I started showing them. Then I started building for them. That's how ServiceBuilt happened.

I built ServiceBuilt because tradesmen deserve better than what most agencies sell them.

Most marketing agencies are designers who Googled your industry. They learned the buzzwords, bought a template, and now they're selling you the same site they sold a dentist last week. They don't understand emergency calls at 2 AM. They don't understand what it's like to lose a $4,000 install because the form on your phone was broken. They don't understand why the click-to-call button has to be in the bottom right corner of every page on mobile, or why your GBP categories have to match your site exactly, or why a slow site costs you more than a bad ad campaign ever will.

I do. Because I've lived it. And every single thing I sell at ServiceBuilt was built and tested on my own company first — with my own money on the line, and my own customers waiting on the other end.

02 — What I Built First
At Direct Service Garage Doors

Before ServiceBuilt, I built this.

These are the numbers from my home service company — not ServiceBuilt's. ServiceBuilt is the system I built to grow Direct Service, sold to other operators. Same playbook. Same engine.

The same system that took Direct Service from one location to twelve, and from a Wix site to a hand-coded WordPress engine, is what runs every site I build at ServiceBuilt. If it didn't work for me, you don't get sold it. That's the whole bar.

03 — What I Believe

A few opinions — earned the hard way.

01

Pricing should be on the page.

Every agency in Central Arkansas hides their pricing behind a “schedule a call” CTA. I think that's a tell. If you can't publish your price, your price is whatever you think you can get away with charging the next guy. I publish mine. $4,500 to build. $650 a month to rank. If it doesn't fit, I'll tell you upfront, not after a 30-minute discovery call.

02

Long-term contracts protect agencies, not clients.

Every agency that asks for a 12-month commitment is asking you to fund their cash flow problem. I work month-to-month. Every month, I have to earn the relationship. If I stop earning it, you cancel. That's how it should work.

03

Speed beats flash. Every time.

Your fancy animation that takes four seconds to load just lost you the customer who was about to call. I don't use Elementor or Divi. I hand-code every template in raw PHP because it loads in under two seconds and doesn't look like the other 50 agency sites in your city. This is the part most agencies refuse to get right because builders are easier.

04

Schema is not optional.

Most agencies skip schema because it's invisible — you can't show it off in a portfolio screenshot. But schema is what tells Google your business is real, where you operate, what you offer, and what your reviews say. The agencies skipping it are leaving rankings on the table they don't even know exist. I implement the full stack on every page.

05

You own everything when we're done.

Every file. Every credential. Every line of code. The hosting is in your name. The domain stays yours. If you ever decide to fire me, you take the whole site with you. No proprietary platforms. No lock-in. No held-hostage. The site is yours the day we launch.

06

Honesty over polish.

If your idea is bad, I'll tell you. If your timeline is unrealistic, I'll tell you. If a feature you want is going to slow your site down or hurt your SEO, I'll tell you and propose something else. You don't want a vendor who agrees with everything — you want one who'll save you from yourself when it matters.

04 — The Stack I Use

My tools. No bloat.

If a tool doesn't earn its place, it doesn't go in. This is the exact stack I run on Direct Service. It's the same stack I'll run on yours.

WP
WordPress

Powers 43% of the web. You own every file. Endless flexibility, no platform lock-in. Nothing comes close.

Kd
Kadence

Lightweight WordPress theme base. Sub-50KB CSS, fast as hell, doesn't fight the developer like Avada or Astra do.

PHP
Hand-Coded PHP

Every page template written by hand. Zero builder bloat. The code Google rewards on speed and structure.

LS
LiteSpeed Cache

Server-level caching. Image optimization, lazy loading, critical CSS. The speed advantage you can measure.

RM
RankMath SEO

Schema injection, sitemap control, redirects, meta. The SEO foundation behind every page that ranks.

HG
Hostinger Cloud

Fast, affordable, NVMe-backed cloud hosting. The same host I run my own production sites on.

05 — How I Work

What it's like to work with me.

Direct Line

You talk to me, not an account rep

No pipeline of project managers, no offshore teams, no “let me check with the developer” loops. When you email or text me, you get me. Same on every project.

Daily Build Updates

You see progress every day, not in a monthly report

During the build weeks, I send daily progress updates. Screenshots, links to the staging site, what was added that day, what's next. No black box. You see exactly what you're paying for, in real time.

Honest Pushback

I'll tell you when an idea isn't going to work

If you want something that's going to hurt your conversion, I'll tell you why and propose an alternative. You're paying for my opinion, not my agreement. Sometimes the best work I do is talking you out of something.

No Scope Creep

Four weeks. The price we agreed on. Done.

The build is four weeks. The price is what we shook on. If something is genuinely out of scope, we discuss it — transparently, before any work happens. No surprise invoices. No mid-project “oh by the way that'll be another two grand.”

06 — Off The Clock

When I'm not building.

I live in Central Arkansas. I've been in the home service industry for over a decade and a half. Direct Service Garage Doors is my main business — ServiceBuilt is the system I built to grow it, now offered to other operators who want the same thing.

When I'm not at the shop or behind a laptop, I'm with family. I've got young kids and a wife who reminds me to put the laptop down. I'm a Razorbacks fan. I work on trucks. I read a lot of business books I probably shouldn't admit to.

If you're a service business owner reading this, we probably have more in common than not. Reach out anytime — I respond personally to every inquiry that comes through ServiceBuilt.
